One of the two terrorists of the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) killed in an encounter in the Rainawari area of Srinagar on Wednesday, was carrying a media identity card (ID).

It indicates a clear case of misuse of media, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir.

"One of the killed categorised local terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT was carrying an Identity Card (ID) of media. It indicates a clear case of misuse of media: IGP Kashmir," tweeted Jammu and Kashmir police.

The two terrorists were identified as Rayees Ahmad Bhat, a former journalist, and C category terrorist Hilal Ah Rah.

Bhat was earlier running an online news portal 'ValleyNews Service' in Anantnag, police said. "Bhat had joined terrorist ranks in 2021. Two FIRs were already registered against him for terror crimes," the police said.

Both the terrorists were involved in several recent terror crimes including killings of civilians, said Inspector General of Police Kashmir.

Police claimed that incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were seized from the slain terrorists.
