Uttar Pradesh Police is proactively intervening to restore communal amity in places where tension has prevailed after some incidents. An example of this was recently seen in Kanpur city where the police called people from two communities and made them resolve their outstanding conflicts.

Locals belonging to different religions clashed on June 3, 2022, at the Nai Sarak area of the city leading to a huge commotion and tension in the area.

The Police Commissioner took a commendable step. On Sunday, the residents of Chandeshwar Hata and the surrounding area were introduced to people from other communities. People from both communities hugged each other and said they had buried the hatchet.

The police officers appealed to the people that in the future all people should maintain good neighbourly relations and harmony should not be disturbed under any circumstances.

After the riots, the police continued to work on improving the environment. In this connection, a peace meeting was held in a local hotel under the chairmanship of DCP East Pramod Kumar on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by Chetan Bajpai, Vinod Sahu, Rahul Tiwari, Sonu Batham of Chandeshwar Hata, and Maulana Hafiz Qamar Ulzma (Imam). Maulana Ghulam Mustafa, Haji Azmat Ali, Noor Alam Councilor, Muhammad Amir Councilor, Shakeel Khalifa. People from both communities poured their hearts out. At the end of the meeting, people were seen hugging each other and saying they had buried the hatchet and would maintain good relations.

ACP Anwarganj Muhammad Akmal Khan and other police officers were present at the meeting.
