A big wedding ceremony for daughters of workers of Uttar Pradesh will be organized by the Construction Workers Board on March 18. In this event, daughters of 150 poor Muslim workers of the state will be married. The state government will give Rs. 65,000 each to these couples for marriage and setting up their family home. Also, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself will be present to bless the couples.
A mass wedding program will be organized at Defense Expo Ground in the capital Lucknow, in which 3,500 daughters of poor families will be married. According to BK Roy, Additional Labor Commissioner, Lucknow Zone, this mass marriage program is being organized by Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Poor families from Lucknow, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Hardoi and Barabanki districts have been registered for this matrimonial program. The target number of the organizers is 3500; till Monday afternoon, 2,786 poor laborers had registered their daughters and this number is expected to reach the target.
Under the Labour Department of Uttar Pradesh Government, the Construction Workers Board organizes such mass wedding programs annually. In this, a grant of Rs. 55,000 is given for the marriage of daughters of poor laborers, Rs. 61,000 for disabled daughters and Rs. 65,000 for inter-caste marriages.
However, for this, the labourer must get himself registered at least 100 days in advance. The grant amount is transferred directly to the girl's father's bank account on behalf of the board. The state government will spend Rs 2.10 crore on the mass wedding program to be held on March 18.
