Waqf properties to be made productive across J&K: Andrabi

Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has announced that all the waqf properties lying idle will be converted into productive units throughout the J&K. She said this while inaugurating the construction of a Parking Plaza cum Office Complex in Jammu at a land of the waqf that was lying idle.

The first woman chairperson of the Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that while "we are preparing for the 75th Independence Day celebrations throughout the country, Waqf Board is all set to unfurl Tricolour at all prominent locations in J&K."

She said: "The inauguration of Waqf Parking Complex cum Office Area at such a prime space in Jammu city is just another important initiative of the Board to convert all idle spaces of Waqf into productive units throughout the J&K.”

The inauguration ceremony was organized by the Waqf Board in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the Har Ghar Tiranga mission. The podium was painted in the colours of the national flag.

Deputy Commissioner of Jammu Anvy Lavasa, J&K Waqf Board members Sohail Kazmi, Nawab Din, and the Chief Executive Officer of Waqf Board Dr Syed Majid Jahangir and Administrator of Waqf Jammu Mudassar Iqbal were present on the occasion.

Andrabi said the work on the project will start soon and be completed within a fixed time frame.

She is touring the Jammu region to assess the Waqf assets and properties on the ground.

She warned all the encroachers of the Waqf land and properties and asked them to vacate or face eviction t the soonest. "We cannot allow anybody to misuse or encroach Waqf properties at any cost. Verifications of the past irregularities have begun and actions will follow, “said Dr. Andrabi. 

Praising the efforts of the Waqf Board, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anvy Lavasa said that the inauguration of this utility project under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a big step and tells the story of the change in the Waqf Board.

She said that the District Administration will extend all help to the Board in executing their futuristic infrastructure projects in Jammu.
