Though Muslims all over the world are planning for sacrificing an animal as part of their religious obligation on Eid-ul-Adha, the trend of Muslims preferring to slaughter an animal in areas with rampant poverty so that the meat can be distributed among the needy and the poor is catching up with a section of the population.

In the Muslim-dominated areas of Delhi, posters offering services to slaughter an animal on behalf of a  family, in the poverty stricken areas and distributing it to the locals have appeared.

Posters of Maktab Shah Waliullah (Jogabai, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi) are seen in Jamia Nagar. The posters read, "Donate your sacrifice to needy people and to madrasas." The organization is organizing sacrifices in Muzaffarnagar and Orissa. A minimum of Rs. 5 per share has been demanded for Muzaffarnagar, while  the average animal's share is Rs 38.

Sacrifice is also being organized by the said institution in Odisha where one share ranges from Rs. 1,000, to Rs. 2200.

Another organization called Maktab Khairamat is also organizing sacrifices in Delhi and Odisha. This arrangement is being made by someNadvi scholars. According to the poster, people can donate Rs. 1100 and 1600 per share for distribution of meat in Odisha.

Some Muslim youths in Gujarat have announced that they have organized Qurbani this year under the guidance of religious scholars.

“We are arranging a sacrifice outside Gujarat during Eid-ul-Adha; your sacrifice will be performed according to the Shariah rules,” they announced.

According to the announcement, the sacrificial meat will be distributed to the poor, needy and vulnerable people in remote areas. Donors will not be given meat. There is an account number given for people to donate to fulfill their religious obligation.

The Al-Falah Islamic Society has published an advertisement in the newspapers stating that "the sacrifice will be made in areas of the country where Muslims are economically weak and needy". The advertisement has account numbers and WhatsApp numbers for communication.
