The instant when we become aware of the upcoming festival season, our heartbeats increase as the season brings happiness and joy. For example, when we come across a few places where people are busy preparing the pandal for Durga Pooja or buying sweets, gifts, or new clothes for Diwali or Eid, we immediately feel positive and happy, even when the festival is a week later.

Have you ever wondered about the reason for this happiness? Thus, to understand the science behind this festival-related happiness, let’s discuss our internal senses and psychology.

Happiness arises when all the five senses are triggered and this majorly happens during the time of the festivals. The beautiful and unique decoration pleasures your eyes. The sweet fragrance all around you triggers your nervous- system, and the power to change your feeling and thinking ability. Likewise, the sweets, snacks, and other food, which you enjoyed in your childhood, refresh your memories.

The major reason the festivals bring happiness and joy is the  conditioning of the mind. Since birth, our mind is sync with all the known festivals for joy, celebrations, and togetherness. Festivities encourage a response in our mind regarding celebration, happiness, forgiveness, becoming spiritual, and much more. If we are in such a situation, it is natural that our minds and soul will celebrate.

As our mind is trained to wake up in the morning, get ready and go to work, similarly, the mind is trained to celebrate during the festival period.

As we all know festivals add joy to our lives, during the season, we see many happy and smiling faces around us. This directly affects our mood. Also, this is the time when you spend good quality time with your family members, chit-chatting and stuff, and it makes you feel happier. Festivals are a part of our life, and one of the reasons humans in society come together and spend quality time.

For example, the annual festival of lights, Diwali triggers your mind into thinking that your mother is going to make some new sweets and a special dinner every day. Guest will visit your place for celebrations and you travel the extra mile to celebrate with someone else too.

Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture, and traditions.  They are meant to rejoice in special moments and emotions in our lives with our loved ones.

The festivals play an important role to add structure to our social lives and connect us with our families and backgrounds. They give us a distraction from our day-to-day, exhausting routine of life, and give us some inspiration to remember the important things and moments in life.  Festivals were started to pass the legends, knowledge, and traditions onto the next generation.

All different religious festivals bring the same message of love, tolerance, celebration, unity, and understanding.

Festivals are not merely moments that are to be celebrated with joy. They are also moments when we need to reflect on our existence. We need to take this as a moment to be thankful and appreciative of all those who contributed to our life. We need to reflect our gratitude and help many people and remind society of the very purpose of the festival. We need to take into consideration that we must spread the merry and cheer that festivals stand for.
