The birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura, is all ready for grand and elaborate celebrations of the 5,252nd birth anniversary of the deity. The Krishan celebrations were kicked off atthe midnight hour of Janmashtami (August 16 and 17).

On the occasion with major parts of the city are seen decorated with festive lights, fabrics, and cultural motifs.

According to local residents, the preparations this year are more elaborate than previous years. The municipal administration has deployed 1,500 additional sanitation workers and arranged 8 lakh liters of drinking water, along with mobile toilets, to accommodate an expected footfall of over 50 lakh pilgrims.

Tight security with the deployment of about 2,000 police personnel, many senior police officers, PAC, CRPF, paramilitary forces have been deployed in Mathura.

The appearance of Lord Sri Krishna, celebrated as Janmashtami, holds profound significance in Vedic life as it marks the divine descent of the Supreme Personality of Godhead to Earth, as described in the Bhagavad Gita.

Born in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva, Krishna’s appearance signifies the embodiment of divine love, wisdom, and righteousness, aimed at restoring dharma (cosmic order) during a time of societal and moral decline.

His life and teachings, particularly in the Bhagavad Gita, guide humanity toward spiritual realization , emphasizing devotion (bhakti), selfless action, and surrender to God.

Krishna’s divine pastimes, from his playful childhood in Vrindavan to his role as a statesman and warrior in his later years, illustrate his multifaceted nature as both a compassionate protector and a profound philosopher, inspiring millions to lead a life of virtue, devotion, and unity with the divine.
