Malaysia Masters: Sindhu storms into last-eight

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu stormed into the quarter-finals of the ongoing Malaysia Masters 2022 on Thursday.

In the Round of 16 match, Sindhu defeated China's Zhang Yiman 21-12, 21-10, in a game that lasted 28 minutes.

The Indian shuttler completely dominated the proceedings in both the games and eased through to the round of eight.

She will face Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final. Currently ranked seventh in the world Sindhu has a 6-15 win-loss record against Tzu Ying who had got the better of the Indian in the last-eight stage at the Malaysian Open last week.

Another Indian who will feature in quarter-final will be HS Prannoy in the men's single event. He defeated Taiwan's Wang Tzu Wei 21-19, 21-16 in a match that lasted 44 minutes.

Meanwhile, B Sai Praneeth bowed out of the tournament after losing in the Round of 16, men's singles clash to China's Li Shifeng 21-14, 21-17, in a match that lasted 42 minutes.
