At a time when the Islamic world is debating whether women should pray in mosques, Muslim women in the United States have begun to play an important role in the management of mosques. It's not just about playing a role, it's about getting more involved.

In this way, Muslim women in the United States look ahead based on their abilities in different fields, but now their increasing participation in the management of mosques is shocking to everyone. This responsibility of Muslim women is now making headlines.

Mosques are usually located in Islamic centers in the United States, and other religious and social activities, including prayer and worship, are organized by these Islamic centers.

According to a recent report, the number of women in the management and board of trustees of American mosques have increased significantly in the last ten years. This is astonishing.

According to a Pew Research Center survey, 9 out of 10 mosques in the United States currently have women administrators and boards of trustees.

Of the boards of trustees of Islamic centers and mosques in the United States, 88 percent allow women, while 61 percent say women have been active members for the past five years.

According to the survey, about three-quarters of mosques (77%) a decade ago allowed women to serve on their board of directors, and only half (51%) said women had served in the past five years. The survey on mosques 2021 also shows that the number of women and children in mosques is increasing for Friday and regular prayers in mosques in the United States are also increasing.

The Pew research, led by Ehsan Bugby, is affiliated with the US Institute of Islamic Studies for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU)

2020 Faith Communities Today (FACT) found out that A Pew research center study shows that the mosques have become inclusive with women’s participation in the Friday prayers going significantly up in the last decade.

According to the research paper, the representation of women was 14% in 2011 while it has increased to 21% in 2020.

The survey also found that 44% of mosques do not have children during Friday prayers, usually on school days.

According to the survey, the number of women in mosques is increasing. The Pew Research Center said research has shown that most American mosques, 55 percent, are dedicated to women and about three-quarters (77 percent) of the program is exclusively for women.

Does Islam forbid women from entering mosques?

There is disagreement between scholars and Muslim intellectuals on this point, but it can be said that this survey is eye-opening for Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries, where Muslim women are believed to be not allowed to pray in mosques.
