National Security Adviser Ajit Doval today said at the 20th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Security Council Secretaries that India was deeply concerned about the continued threat from the UN Security Council-designated terror groups like LeT, JeM, Al Qaeda and its affiliates, and ISIS & its affiliates.

In his address to the SCO member countries at Beijing, Doval said that India had to launch Operation Sindoor in response to a barbaric terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam in which TRF (The Resistance Force), a proxy of LeT, killed 26 Indian and Nepalese nationals.

He said the tourists were targeted after segregating them based on religion.

Explaining the Operation Sindoor, Doval said India wanted to dismantle terror infrastructure and deter terrorists who were likely to be sent across the border into India. “India’s actions were measured and non-escalatory.”

Doval reiterated that any act of terror, including cross-border terrorism, was a crime against humanity.

He called on the SCO members to hold accountable the perpetrators, organisers, financiers, and sponsors of acts of cross-border terror and to help bring them to justice.

NSA requested the support of the heads of delegations for several important Indian proposals like the Algorithm of Joint Actions to counter challenges posed by international terrorist organisations, including Al Qaeda & its affiliates

He called for joint measures to counter radicalisation leading to terrorism, separatism, and extremism, and joint Information operations to counter extremist ideology.

At the outset, Doval said the millennia-old Indian principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam will guide India’s approach to prosper together with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation SCO states.

Speaking at the SCO’s meeting in Beijing, Doval reiterated India's commitment to uphold the centuries-old linkages with each country in the SCO

Doval also met with Wang Yi, Member, Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Beijing.

According to the Chinese government’s release, during the meeting, both sides reviewed recent developments in India-China bilateral relations and underscored the need to promote the overall development of India-China bilateral relations, including by fostering greater people-to-people ties.

NSA also emphasized the need to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations to maintain overall peace and stability in the region.

Doval and Li also exchanged views on other bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest.
