As Prime Minister Nartendra Modi declared the G-20 summit in New Delhi closed and India handed over the baton to Brazil as the next chair of the global grouping, Modi thanked the leaders and wished, “May the roadmap of One Earth, One Family, One Future be pleasant.”
Quoting a Sanskrit hymn that he translated in Hindi, Modi said, "On behalf of the 140 cr Indians I wish that May there be hope and peace throughout the world.”
He formally pressed the gravel to pass on the G-20 Presidency to Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Brazil will be the next chair of the G-20. Brazil will officially take over from India on November 24.
"I congratulate Brazilian President and my friend Lula da Silva and hand over the gavel of Presidency," PM Modi said minutes before the New Delhi G20 Summit concluded.
Earlier Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva handed over saplings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Session 3 of the G20 Summit.
Speaking at the third session of the G 20, the Prime Minister said that in keeping with the thinking of initiating reforms, India took the historic initiative on Saturday to include the African Union as a permanent member of the G 20. “In the same manner, we will have to expand the mandate of multilateral banks. In this direction, we need to take immediate and effective decisions.’’
Prime Minister Modi said that sustainability and stability are as important as transformation in a fast-changing world. “Let us pledge to bring to fruition our determination to on Green Development Pact, Action Plan on SDGs, High Level Principles on Anti-Corruption, Digital Public Infrastructure and MDB Reforms.’’
Flagging burning issues facing the world today, Modi said that these can affect the present and future of nations. “We are familiar with challenges posed by cyber security and crypto currency. The issue of crypto currency, social order, monetary and financial stability has emerged as a new subject for everybody. Therefore, we need to develop global standards to regulate crypto currencies. Terrorism is getting new sources and ways of funding in the cyber world. This is a very important subject as far s as the security and prosperity of all nations is concerned. To empower our future, we must empathize and pay attention to the safety of all countries.’’
He expressed satisfaction that G 20 has become a platform of hopeful efforts, alongwith the efforts of One Earth, One Family and One Future. “We are talking of a future where we go beyond the concept of a Global Family and make a Global Future a reality- a future which connect not only the welfare of countries but also the hearts of countries.’’
The Prime Minister said that he has always drawn attention to Human Centric Vision instead of GDP Centric Vision. “Today, countries like India have many things that it can share with the entire world. The fact that India is willing to share the Chandrayan mission data with the whole world bears testimony to our commitment on Human Centric growth.’’
He also suggested preparation of a framework for Responsible Human-centric AI governance. "India will also give its suggestions on this subject. We will make efforts to ensure that all countries benefit from AI in socio economic development, global workforce and R&D.''
Modi also proposed a virtual meeting of the G-20 in November to review the progress made on the decisions taken in the New Delhi G-20 meet.
