The Taliban has admitted to killing a popular comedian of the country Nazar Mohammad better known as Khasha Zawan in Kandhar earlier this week.

An Afghan journalist had posted pictures of Nazar Ahmed being slapped by two unidentified men in a car and he was later reported to have been executed by the same group.

Though initially Taliban denied its involvement in the brutal killing of Zawan after the clip of he in the captivity being abused and beaten went viral and condemnation from all over Afghanistan and the rest of the world poured in, the group admitted to the realities of the incident.

Taliban spokesperson Zagihullah Mujahid acknowledged that the two men in the video were Taliban. Last week, local media reports claimed Mohammad was picked up by the Taliban from his home and shot dead.

Mujahid claimed the two men have been arrested and will be tried in a Taliban court.

He also claimed Khasha Zwan was a member of the Afghan police and was involved in the torture and killing of Taliban men.

He added that the Taliban should have arrested the comic and brought him before their court, instead of killing him.

Khasha, a widely known comic for his crude jokes, funny songs and making fun of himself on the internet, also earlier served in the Kandahar police.
