US blogger joins PTV after Imran Khan’s 'desi' call

Controversial American blogger Cynthia Richie, who had accused former Pakistani home minister Rehman Malik of sexual assault, has joined the state-run Pakistan Television  (PTV) in Islamabad.
 
The blogger associated with the Pakistan Army’s media affairs wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) is working towarss refurbishing the country’s image abroad announced this on Twitter. PTV also confirmed her appointment.
 
 
This comes within days of Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciating the Taliban takeover of Kabul as a “breaking of the shackles" moment. He later explained mental slavery imposed on Pakistan due to the usage of English as a medium of public speeches and official work.
 
Last week, the US blogger was reportedly found unconscious at her Islamabad apartment under mysterious circumstances, after which she was shifted to a hospital.
 
Last year, Cynthia had accused Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik of sexually abusing her. She had also alleged that former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and former interior minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin had sexually harassed her. Rejecting her allegations, the PPP leadership had stated that she was trying to malign the party leaders in a ‘pre-planned plot’.
 
Earlier, the blogger had drawn social media ire, especially from PPP supporters, when she made inappropriate remarks about former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on Twitter.
