The recently-appointed US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West met National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla Tuesday to discuss current developments in Afghanistan, including global efforts on humanitarian assistance and regional security.
Thomas West visited New Delhi on Tuesday as part of his Asia and Europe tour. Sources said, “Discussions are focused on the current developments in Afghanistan. Topics include the recently held regional security dialogue on Afghanistan in New Delhi, movement of people in and out of Afghanistan, coordinating global efforts on humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, bilateral and international issues of mutual interest, regional security issues and others.
During the meeting with Shringla, the West exchanged views on recent developments and issues of common interest in Afghanistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi tweeted, "Foreign Secretary Shringla met Thomas West, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and exchanged views on recent developments and issues of common interest in Afghanistan."

The West is on a visit to Europe and Asia to discuss the way forward on Afghanistan with friendly countries and partners.
On the eve of the visit, West said the international community must work together to be effective in Afghanistan.
Last month, Tom West was named as Special Representative and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Afghanistan.
In his earlier avatars, West has served as Special Adviser to the Vice President of South Asia and Director of Afghanistan and Pakistan on the National Security Council for three years.
