Global leaders and foreign missions have expressed shock and solidarity with India following the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured on Monday evening.
The explosion occurred around 7 pm near the Subhash Marg traffic signal close to the historic monument, involving a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car that also damaged several nearby vehicles. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that “all possibilities” were being explored, with multiple agencies probing the cause and motive behind the blast. Delhi Police have registered a case under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Kotwali Police Station.
Condemning the attack, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India Simon Wong called it an “act of terror,” extending condolences to the victims and their families. “Singapore strongly condemns this act of terror. SG stands with India,” he said in a post on X.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also offered heartfelt condolences, saying, “I extend my & Israel’s deepest condolences to the people of India and especially to the families of the innocent victims killed in the blast at the heart of Delhi.” Reaffirming Israel’s support, he added, “Israel stands with India in its fight against terror.”

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov expressed deep shock, noting, “Confident that the ongoing thorough investigation will determine the cause of the incident. We express condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa both condemned the explosion, with Premadasa urging global unity against extremism.

Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar described the blast as “heartbreaking,” praising the quick response of rescue and security teams. Condolences and advisories also poured in from the United States and Canada. The US Embassy advised its citizens to remain alert and avoid the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas, noting that India has placed several states on high alert.

The explosion, which struck one of Delhi’s busiest heritage zones, has prompted heightened security across the country as investigators work to determine whether it was a targeted act of terror.
