India’s renowned ultra distance runner Sufiya Sufi has set a world record by covering the 4,167 km Kanyakumri to Kashmir distance in 68 Days and 23 Hours.

She touched Srinagar soil on Monday and announced here accomplishment on a post on X:

The Jaipur-based 39 year old record holder is running from Kanyakumari to Karakoram and her run is dedicated to the Indian armed forces.

She broke down while bowing to the soil of Kashmir on the banks of Dal Lake and posted an emotional story on X.

This World Record belongs to every person who believed in me, ran with me, prayed for me, cheered from the roadside, and supported this Run.

From Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

She said, “When this run began, I knew the road would test me in every possible way. There were days of unbearable heat, endless rain, heavy traffic, mountains, pain, exhaustion, and moments when my body wanted to stop. But I knew why I started.

“This record is not mine alone. It belongs to every person who stood on the roadside and cheered, every person who ran miles with me, every soldier who encouraged me, every prayer offered for my safety, and every message that reminded me to keep going.”

She said her run is just meant to just break a record, “We showed what relentless belief, courage, and consistency can achieve.”

She announced her original plan to reach Karakoram will continue.

She is on her 5,000-kilometre journey 'Run for Dreams' from Kanyakumari to Karakoram and she dedicated it to Indian armed forces. She is running to make the sixth record for the Guinness Book of World Records.
