Stand-up comedian Munawar Farooqui was about to hang his boots following repeated disruptions of his shows by the right-wing groups in different cities when Hyderabad extended its hand to him. He is now scheduled to perform next month in this city of Charminar and Biryani.

Farooqui was scheduled to perform in Bengaluru last month but the show was cancelled due to protests by some right-wing groups. However, in January he will perform on the stage in Hyderabad. He announced his show Dhandho (Search me) on Instagram.

The show will be held in Hyderabad on January 9. Sharing the post, he wrote, "Bio Mia is the ticket link." According to the online ticket booking platform BookMyShow, the ticket price has been kept at Rs 799.

Earlier, Telangana IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) had said comedians Kunal Kamra and Munawar Farooqui have an "open invitation" to perform in Hyderabad.

Munawar Farooqui is facing a case for showing disrespect to the Hindu deities in his one of his shows. He is out on bail and the Hindu right-wing groups have imposed a boycott of his shows.

Speaking at an event, he said, "We don't cancel Munawar Farooqui and Kunal Kamra's shows just because we don't do politics with them." Three weeks after Farooqui's show was canceled in Bangalore in November, KTR's invitation had arrived.

At that time, the Bangalore Police had refused permission to organize his stand-up comedy show in the city. This was done due to the opposition of some radical groups. The fundamentalists alleged that the comedian had hurt religious sentiments of Hindus in one of his shows.

The 29-year-old comedian stated social media hinting at quitting after 12 of his shows were canceled in the last two months. He said, “Today Bangalore show, canceled under threat of sabotage at the venue. Over 600 tickets were sold. It was a charitable show.”

He said, "I don't do comedy to go to jail or to get my shows canceled. There is no problem with what I do. This is unfair. The show is getting so much love from the people, irrespective of their religion. I think this is the end. My name is Munawar Farooqui. You guys are amazing spectators. saying goodbye.”

Apart from Bengaluru, his shows in Gujarat, Gurugram, Chhattisgarh, and Goa were also canceled following threats from various Hindutva groups.
