A man has been arrested for allegedly giving death threat to actors Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal through social media, the Mumbai police said. A case has been registered at Mumbai's Santacruz police station. The man, identified as Manvinder Singh is from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, and was struggling to get work in films and TV series in Mumbai.

The accused is a fan of actor Katrina Kaif. According to the police, the actors were getting threats on Instagram and the accused was also stalking Katrina Kaif and threatening her. The Mumbai Police has registered a complaint by Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal against a person who has allegedly threatened his British wife and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.

The police have registered an FIR against the man under Indian Penal Code Sections 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 354-D (stalking), the official said. The police have also registered a case under the IT Act.

It may be recalled that the couple had recently gone to Maldives to celebrate Katrina's birthday on July 16 and had posted their holiday memories on social media, after which she was issued threats.

The developments come barely a month after mega-star Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan also received death threats from the Kuldeep Bishnoi gang responsible for Sidhu Moosewala’s killing.

While the police have beefed up security for the father-son celebrity duo, Salman Khan reportedly met the Mumbai Police Commissioner last week and sought a gun license for his security.
