Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday pledged to build ‘Bor Asom’ (Greater Assam) rooted in unity and inclusion across all communities as the state celebrated Asom Diwas.
The day marks the arrival of Chaolung Sukapha, founder of the Ahom kingdom, in 1228 AD.
“On this day, Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha came to Assam, laying the foundation of our land and legacy. As we observe #AsomDiwas, we pledge to continue building the Bor Asom he envisaged — proud, strong and united,” Sarma posted on X.
He thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for extending Asom Diwas greetings.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the double-engine government has spared no effort to preserve and promote the glorious legacy of the Ahoms and Assam on the world stage,” Sarma wrote.
