“I am told that my son’s sacrifice has saved at least 1,000 lives and I am very proud of him; our entire baradari (community) is proud of him."
These words are of Masood Ahmed Sheikh, father of Jammu and Kashmir police official Mohammad Mudasir, who laid down his life fighting Pakistani terrorists at Kreeri village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir Wednesday.
Three dreaded Pakistani terrorists were killed in the encounter. Besides, a civilian identified as Ranjit Singh of Rajouri, Jammu was also killed in the chance encounter between the police and the terrorists at Najibath crossing in Kreeri, Baramulla district.
Masood Sheikh spoke to the media as his son’s body was being brought to the Baramulla police lines for his colleagues to pay their last respects to him.
He said, "I am happy and proud that my son died fighting the terrorists who had come to kill the innocent people."
