In a heartfelt message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad has extended his unequivocal support for the government's resolute stance against terrorism and extremism. At a critical juncture when the nation is confronting these grave threats, the Grand Mufti's endorsement underscores the collective commitment to safeguarding India's sovereignty and unity.

The Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad shared a post on his social media handle on X, stating "The current tension between India and Pakistan has become more complicated, so that the lives of innocent people and the peaceful social environment in India are not lost and peace prevails, so that prayers should be offered in mosques after Jumu'ah today. India's moves and efforts against terrorism and extremism must be successful. The steps taken yesterday will proclaim the strength and power of the country in that sense. At the same time, there must be a situation free of wars and conflicts for the survival and sustainable life of humanity. The country should pay more attention in the coming days to suppress terrorism through diplomatic efforts, global cooperation and pressure. The situation where ordinary civilians suffer due to war must also be avoided. On this occasion, citizens should maintain a mind and approach that ensures the security, unity and integrity of the country."

The Grand Mufti emphasised that terrorism not only undermines national stability but also poses a significant threat to global peace and human dignity. He lauded India's proactive measures, particularly in regions susceptible to unrest, such as Kashmir, highlighting the government's dedication to protecting innocent lives and upholding justice and humanity.

Expressing confidence in India's strategic interventions and diplomatic leadership, the Grand Mufti believes the nation can play a transformative role in countering radical ideologies and promoting sustainable peace across South Asia. He urged all citizens to unite in support of these national efforts, emphasising the importance of acting as custodians of the values that bind the diverse nation together.

This endorsement aligns with the broader efforts of India's leadership, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who has consistently articulated that terrorism is a distortion of religion and that spiritual leaders have a pivotal role in countering extremism. Doval has highlighted that Islam, at its core, promotes peace and well-being, and any misuse of religion for violent purposes is unjustifiable.
