Prominent Islamic scholar Salman Hussaini Nadvi has asked Muslims to visit the ashram of spiritual Guru Shri Shri Ravi Shankar's to see and learn how humanitarian service is rendered alongside religious education (to the youth).
He said during his stay in the Bengaluru ashram, he saw thousands of people are being fed every day and it reminded him of the similar trend at Sufi Ashrams once.
Salman Hussaini Nadvi is a prominent scholar and professor of Islamic studies at Lucknow's Darul Uloom Nidwat Ulama Madrasa. He recently visited Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's ashram in Bangaluru and met the Guru.
He said he discussed with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar the situation in the country where Muslims were facing bullldozers and their homes and madrasas were being razed with impunity.
He said he sough Sri Sri's cooperation in speaking against this injustice.
Maulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi has posted two videos about his visit to the Ashram on social media. The video shows a huge area of the Ashram premises.
He wrote, “I met Shri Shri Shankar and I told him that on the current dispute between temples and mosques, we will accept the decision of the Supreme Court. I emphasized that the way we resolved the long-standing conflict shows out unity. Let's all come forward together. Give the message, which is of the Quran, of the Gita. Give the message to the country and nation. Bring the hearts together. End this hatred.”
Maulana Nadvi said that there are incidents of demolishing mosques and madrassas in the country. Bulldozers are being used, this is a very brutal policy. We have to come forward in this country against oppression. The voice has to be raised.
He said that this message from Sri Sri Shankar's Ashram in Bangalore is important because it is a spiritual place, where the message of spirituality is imparted and taught.
Maulana Salman Hussaini Nadvi said that he was very happy to come to Shri Shri Ravi Shankar's ashram. It is very beautiful, peaceful, an ideal place, where there are beautiful landscapes. It is spread over three and a half hundred acres of land. Yes, it is a very organized system. I saw that in one big building, about fifteen thousand people are fed every day, that too in just three hours. It is a huge system.

He said that there was a time when thousands of people used to eat daily in the langars of Sufi elders, there was a great service. Today in the ashrams of sadhus and saints there is such an arrangement that every day thousands of people are eating and they are also being treated.
