Days after Indian-origin Suella Braverman raised temperature in the India-UK ties with her remarks against the Free Trade Agreement that was about to be signed around Diwali, she had to resign as UK Home Secretary.

Braveman posted her resignation letter on Twitter soon after a rather long meeting with Prime Minister Lisa Truss.

The Truss government is under attack for its economic policies amidst the Economy  various reasons and her party men are mulling a change in leadership, barely over a month after Truss defeated Rishi Sunak as Prime Ministerial candidate.

One of the reasons for a revolt in Conservarive party was Suella’s repeated remarks that she would like to send back political refugees back to their countries.

On India, she said she would oppose the FTA as this could trigger immigration from India to the UK.

Though the Indian government hasn’t spoken openly about it, it’s believed that New Delhi is furious about these remarks as these came at a time when the UK needs India among other countries to salvage it from economic collapse.

Braverman, the daughter of a Goan-origin father and Tamil-origin mother, was only appointed Home Secretary 43 days ago when British Prime Minister Liz Truss took charge at 10 Downing Street.
