New Delhi

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday visited and offered prayers at the shrine of Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya in Delhi on the first day of her four-day visit to India.

her media secretary Wazir Azam Hussain, told journalists that the PM visited the 700-year-old dargah which is the center of Sufi culture in India.

Deputy Press Secretary of Prime Minister KM Sakhawat Moon told reporters that Prime Minister Hussain prayed for the development, prosperity and welfare of the country, the nation as well as the entire Muslim community.

Hussain said the Bangaldesh Prime Minister used to visit the Mizammudin Dargah frequently during her stay in Delhi from 1975 to 1981 after the assassination of her father Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
