On the Ghats of the Ganga in Varanasi Friday evening, it was a scene out of the incredible India campaign.

As the devotees participated in the Ganga Aarti, a huge framed picture of journalist Kamal Khan was placed prominently on the Ghats. Diyas were lit around the picture as the seers performed spectacular aarti.

The Aarti (Hindu invocation of the Gods) was a gesture seeking peace for and paying tributes to the NDTV television journalist who died of a heart attack in Lucknow in the morning.

Sanjay Kishore, an NDTV journalist and a colleague of Kamal Khan posted this video on Twitter:

The 62-year old Kamal Khan has been praised across the spectrum as a “serious and matured journalist.”

As the clips of the Ganga Aarti were posted by some local You tube channels and individuals on Twitter went viral, people showered praises on the goodness and professionalism of Khan.
