Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, is set to meet senior Tata Group executives on Thursday, with detailed discussions on loss-making Air India expected.

Goh Choon Phong arrived at Bombay House, the Tata Group headquarters, on Thursday morning.

The Tata Group acquired Air India from the Indian government in January 2022. Later, Singapore Airlines purchased a 25.1 per cent stake in the airline.

Sources said the Singapore Airlines chief is likely to meet N. Chandrasekaran, though details of the discussions were not immediately available.

The meeting comes as Air India faces multiple challenges, including rising operating costs due to airspace restrictions linked to the West Asia conflict and the closure of Pakistani airspace for nearly a year. These constraints have forced longer international routes, increasing fuel burn and expenses.

Earlier this month, Air India announced that its CEO and MD Campbell Wilson would step down, and the airline has begun searching for a successor.

The carrier is also dealing with the aftermath of the fatal AI171 plane crash in Ahmedabad last June that killed 260 people.

According to sources, Air India is expected to have posted losses of more than Rs 22,000 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, affecting Singapore Airlines as well.
