Delhi has recorded 162 dengue cases, 42 malaria infections and nine cases of chikungunya so far in 2026, according to the latest weekly report on vector-borne diseases released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The report noted that 10 fresh dengue cases were added over the past fortnight, taking the total number of cases reported up to June 15 to 20. During the latest reporting week, authorities also registered three new malaria cases and one case of chikungunya.

Dengue continued to be the most widespread vector-borne disease in the national capital. However, the cumulative number of dengue infections till June 13 remained lower than the figures recorded during the same period last year. Delhi had reported 196 dengue cases by this time in 2025.

Similarly, malaria cases stood at 42 this year, compared to 70 during the corresponding period in 2025, while chikungunya infections dropped from 14 to nine.

Among the civic zones, the West Zone recorded the highest number of dengue cases, with 29 infections reported so far this year. It was followed by the Central Zone with 21 cases and the Civil Lines Zone with 20. The West Zone also reported the highest malaria burden, accounting for 14 cases.

The report highlighted that a considerable number of patients had either contracted the diseases outside Delhi or had provided incomplete addresses, posing challenges for tracing and surveillance efforts.

As part of preventive measures, MCD teams carried out more than 8.3 lakh household inspections during the week to identify mosquito breeding sites. Officials found mosquito larvae in 4,028 houses during these visits.

To curb the spread of vector-borne diseases, civic authorities issued 3,532 legal notices over mosquito-breeding conditions and initiated 379 prosecutions during the reporting week.
