Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday said that taking inspiration from Guru Gobind Singh ji, he will work to bring prosperity to Bihar and the nation.

He was speaking during a visit to Patna Saheb Gurudwara, associated with the 10th Sikh Guru Govind Singh.

BJP leader Samrat Choudhary was on Wednesday sworn in as the 24th Chief Minister of Bihar, in the first instance of a saffron party member making it to the top post in the state.

"I am greatly inspired by Guru Gobind Singh ji. I pray that his blessings remain with the people of Bihar, and that the state, along with the nation, progresses on the path of prosperity," Choudhary said.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will work to take forward the works done by Nitish Kumar over a long period of time.

Earlier in the day, Choudhary held discussions with his deputies Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, along with the state chief secretary and other senior officials, at the chief minister's secretariat.

Choudhary will also visit Jayaprakash Narayan's residence, Bihar Charkha Samiti, later in the day, a CMO statement read.
