The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have taken the top positions in the Latur Zilla Parishad in Maharashtra.
BJP’s Usha Sambhaji Patil-Talegaonkar was elected president, while NCP’s Dayanand Damodar Surwase secured the vice-president’s post, an official said on Tuesday.
The elections were held on Monday during a meeting presided over by Additional District Collector Shilpa Karmarkar.
Both winning candidates received 34 votes each, defeating Congress nominees Deepali Bhosale and Nageshwari Kendre, who secured 25 votes apiece.
The Zilla Parishad polls, conducted on February 7, resulted in a hung house, with no party achieving a majority in the 59-member body.

The Indian National Congress emerged as the largest party with 23 seats, followed by the BJP with 18 seats and the NCP with 12.
