New Delhi
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) X account, which had been blocked in India in May.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the order while hearing a petition filed by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke challenging the Centre's decision to withhold the social media account.
During the proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the account had been blocked to prevent possible disruption among students and parents ahead of the June 21 NEET re-test.
Observing that the examination had already concluded and the circumstances had changed, the court held that the reason for continuing the restriction no longer existed. It consequently revoked the blocking order and allowed the petition.
The CJP first emerged as a satirical digital collective on May 15 in the aftermath of controversy surrounding remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Its original X account was withheld in India on May 21. The group later launched another account, titled "Cockroach is Back", which has since attracted more than 2.27 lakh followers.
The organisation has gained attention for using the cockroach as a symbol of protest and for mobilising supporters through social media campaigns.

According to the CJP, its objective is to build an independent, youth-led movement focused on highlighting issues affecting young people and demanding greater government accountability. The group has also been campaigning for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the education sector, including the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
