Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday described the recent meeting of the Council of Ministers as “fruitful”, saying discussions focused on reforms aimed at improving ease of living, ease of doing business and accelerating the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

In a post on X, Modi said ministers shared ideas, experiences and best practices related to governance reforms and public service delivery.

“Had a fruitful meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday. We exchanged perspectives and best practices relating to boosting Ease of Living, Ease of Doing Business and furthering reforms to realise our shared dream of Viksit Bharat,” the Prime Minister said.

The meeting, chaired by Modi on Thursday at Seva Teerth in New Delhi, was attended by Union Cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge and ministers of state.

According to BJP sources, presentations were delivered by several major ministries, including Agriculture, Forest, Labour, Road Transport, Corporate Affairs, External Affairs, Commerce and Power.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister reportedly stressed the importance of faster decision-making and efficient governance. He asked ministries to ensure quicker movement of files, minimise delays and improve productivity within shorter timelines. Modi also called for greater simplicity in governance and a stronger push for reforms.

Reaffirming the government’s long-term roadmap, Modi said the goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047” reflects the government’s commitment rather than being merely a slogan. Ministries that performed below expectations in internal assessments were advised to improve their functioning and address shortcomings.

The Prime Minister also urged ministers to engage more actively with citizens and communicate the achievements and initiatives undertaken by the government over the past 12 years.
