A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind recently visited Bareilly, a city in Uttar Pradesh, where, early this month, authorities demolished many houses and business establishments reportedly linked to those involved in street violence and vandalism and arrested many youth, to assess the situation that had impacted the lives of hundreds of Muslim families.

Jamaat Vice President Malik Mutasim Khan led the delegation. He was accompanied by National Secretary I. Karimullah, Laik Ahmed, National Secretary APCR Nadeem Khan, Jamaat Uttar Pradesh West Zone President Zameeruddin Hassan and other senior members.

The delegation visited the affected areas, met with the affected families and victims and the relatives of the youth in custody.

The locals told the visiting leaders that the notices for demolition of houses and shops and sealing of properties were issued without following due procedure.

Several individuals claimed to have valid documents and digital evidence proving that they were not present on the day of the incident and were not involved in any illegal activity. Despite this, they faced arbitrary police actions and political pressure.

The delegation held detailed consultations with lawyers and reviewed legal avenues to provide justice to the affected people. Although the delegation tried to meet the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police, the authorities did not respond.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, once again reiterating its commitment to justice, constitutional values and peaceful civic participation, demanded that FIRs registered on political grounds be immediately withdrawn, those arrested without solid evidence be released, and fair judicial action be taken against police atrocities.

Vice President Malik Mutasim Khan appealed to the authorities to ensure the protection of civil rights and provide immediate assistance to the affected families.

APCR National Secretary Nadeem Khan said that the administration has issued notices to the families of 27 houses, while 32 shops have been sealed.

APCR is pursuing these cases in the courts and hopes that the courts will provide justice and relief to the innocent people soon.
