A man and a woman were found dead in a forest area near Parwanoo in a suspected case of double suicide, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Yashika Lama (20), who lived in Deonghat, and Karan (22), a resident of Padgyani.

According to police, a local resident alerted authorities on Monday evening after spotting the bodies while visiting a nearby temple in the forest area.

Officials said the man was found hanging from a tree, while the woman was lying on the ground nearby.

A police team reached the spot, took custody of the bodies and recovered some crucial evidence from the scene.

Tirumalaraju S D Verma confirmed the incident and said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
