Modi asks Indians to dream and work on making India great

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked Indians to take a pledge to make their country a modern and prosperous nation in next 25 years to celebrate the centenary of India’s independence on August 15, 2047.

In his 45 minute speech from Red Fort on the 75th Independence Day of India, Modi cursorily referred to Pakistan and China without naming both. The focus of his speech was on the future plans and motivating the countrymen into working towards making India a great country.

Known for coining slogans, Modi rephrased his slogan of “sabka saath, sabka vikas and sabka vishwash” to“ sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas and sabka prayas” to focus on citizens’ responsibilities in making India a force to recknon with.

He said while India is on the right path of development and growth despite the Covid, we have to remain alert to the threat of “terrorism and imperialism.” He implied Pakistan and China without mentioning their names. Modi said “surgical strikes had given the message to the enemy that India had changed and it has the guts and the will to take hard and bold decisions.”

Outlining the dreams that Indians must work on he said we must end out dependence on imported fuel. For this, he proposes to make India a global hub of hydrogen fuel as part of India’s green energy mission. Prime Minister's full speech as posted on his Twitter:

 Right now India was exceeding its targets of reducing the carbon emissions thereby also giving hope and ideas to the rest of the world. Indian Railways, he would, would become a carbon negative organization by end of the decade.

He praised the Olympians who were invited on the occasion and said their achievements are reflection of a new resurgent India and this sports movement must be carried forward.

Prime Minister said a major effort is underway to simplify procedures and annul the laws that make the government interfere in the lives of citizens. “It will take time but surely happen.” He said the government  is working on ending the interface between citizens and the government for services. He urged the states to launch similar programmes for the convenience of the public.

Modi said in the run up to the 100th year of India’s independence the government plans to make India self-reliant in energy, ensure delivery of services to citizens at their doorsteps, make India a major manufacturing and exporting hub.

Prime Minister said 25 years is a window period for India to progress to the level that the difference between life in a city and a village is blurred and standard of peoples’ life becomes better.

He thanked scientists for working on the Covid vaccine and saving the countrymen. Although India experienced the lowest death rate due to Covid, there is no room for complacency. He asked the scientists to focus on agriculture and make India a major agriculture exporting nation.

Prime Minister said he is not a clairvoyant to predict the future but a believer in the power of karma, the Indian philosophy of good deeds earning one good results.

He said he has full faith in the youth of India that he called is the ’can do it’ generation to make India a great nation.

Prime Minister also asked citizens to play their role in making the government achieve the target of water for all by changing their habits. 

To the industry owners, Modi said that while the government was with them on encourging productivity and exports, they must keep in mind that thewir products also acts as iodentity and have an impact on India's reputation in global markets. hence they must ensure the quality.
