Mufti Manzur Ziyaee, head of the International Sufi Caravan, has condemned the ongoing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.

In a statement, he said that the incidents of killings, mob violence and harassment of members of the Hindu minority community are highly condemnable and asked the country’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus and his administration to take strict action against the culprits.

Mufti Manzur Ziyaee said that Hindus have been living in the region for centuries. “The extremists who are attacking the Hindu minority are enemies of both their country and religion,” he said.

Islam teaches its followers to care for their neighbours, irrespective of their religion. He said a Muslim should follow the principles of his religion that direct him to protect and respect his neighbours.

He said that the Bangladesh government has a responsibility to protect all its citizens, including Hindus, from extremists.
