With this Indian armed Forces’ four day Operation Sindoor launched on April 7 with missile attacked on nine terrorist training camps inside Punjab province of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.
The operation was launched in the wake of Pahalgam terrorist strike in which 25 Indian and a citizen of Nepal were killed on April 22.
Shortly before the ceasefire announcement Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces at his residence in New Delhi.
The meeting took place following India's strikes at four airbases in Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday in reply to Pakistan's attack on 26 Indian locations. Army also destroyed seven terrorist launchpads along the line of control in POJK this morning.
India has made it clear that it would "treat any act of terror as an act of war" in the future. Also India had no ambition to expand the conflict and its target was the terror infrastruture in Pakistan.
