Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended the Christmas morning service at the Cathedral Church of the Redemption here, joining a large congregation of Christians from Delhi and across north India.
The service featured prayers, carols and hymns, along with a special prayer for the Prime Minister led by the Rt Rev Paul Swarup, Bishop of Delhi.

Over the past few years, Modi has regularly participated in programmes engaging with the Christian community. He attended an Easter programme at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in 2023, hosted a Christmas programme at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg the same year, and in 2024 attended a Christmas dinner at the residence of Minister George Kurian as well as an event organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister extended Christmas greetings to the people through a post on X.

“Wishing everyone a joyous Christmas filled with peace, compassion and hope. May the teachings of Jesus Christ strengthen harmony in our society,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister’s message highlighted the enduring values of love, service and brotherhood associated with the teachings of Jesus Christ and their relevance in promoting social harmony and mutual respect.

Meanwhile, cities across the country witnessed festive celebrations as markets, churches and public spaces were decorated with lights, Christmas trees, wreaths and stars. Special prayers were held in churches, while families gathered to celebrate the festival marking the birth of Jesus Christ with joy and goodwill.
