Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday dialled Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to review the flood situation, and assured him of all possible assistance from the Centre for relief and restoration efforts.

The floods in the northeastern state have so far claimed 75 lives this year, while more than 3.32 lakh people continue to be affected by the deluge.

"Hon'ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji telephoned me a short while ago to review the ongoing relief efforts in the wake of the #AssamFloods," he said in a post on X.

He said Shah enquired about the ground situation and assured that the Centre would continue to provide every assistance required for relief, restoration and rebuilding.

"He further reiterated that all agencies and resources of the Central Government are at the disposal of the people of Assam during this difficult time," Sarma said, thanking the Union home minister for his "continued support and unwavering commitment to the people of Assam".

This is the second time Shah has spoken to the chief minister over the flood situation, having also reviewed the crisis on July 23.
