Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay wound up his New Delhi visit on Friday and proceeded to Udupi in Karnataka for a darshan of Kollur Sri Mookambika.
During his maiden visit to Karnataka after taking up the reins as chief minister in May, Vijay would visit the Sri Mookambika temple for a darshan of the Goddess and special puja.
A team of police personnel under a DIG and a Superintendent of Police from Tamil Nadu have already been deployed at the temple town ahead of the chief minister's visit, an official said.
During his three-day official trip to the national capital, Vijay attended the 11th meeting of the NITI Aayog's governing council that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 11.
He had called on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan in Delhi. Also, he met Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
He landed at the Mangaluru international airport by a special flight and would proceed by road to the Udupi district. After darshan and special puja, Vijay will travel back to Mangaluru airport by road in the evening and board a special flight to Chennai, an official said.

Vijay will be the third chief minister of Tamil Nadu to visit Sri Mookambika temple after M G Ramachandran in 1984 and J Jayalalithaa in 2004, signifying a political tradition of visiting the temple after electoral victory.
