Amid reports of slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday criticised the campus, calling it a hub for the so-called “tukde-tukde gang.”
He alleged that figures including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and leaders from RJD, TMC, and Left parties support anti-national activities, and warned that backing individuals like Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam—accused of pro-Pakistan views and advocating the separation of the “Chicken’s Neck” corridor—amounts to treason.
ABVP JNU unit Vice President Manish Choudhary claimed slogans such as “ABVP-RSS ki kabar khudegi” were raised, calling them frequent and questioning their intent, while welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision rejecting the bail pleas of Khalid and Imam.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Minister Dayashankar Singh echoed concerns, emphasising the country’s judicial process and warning against foreign or anti-national mindsets on campus.
