A dramatic video capturing the landslide at the Kalladi tunnel project site in Kerala's Wayanad has surfaced, showing panicked bystanders scrambling to safety as a massive wall of mud rushed towards a road and bridge.

In the footage, an eyewitness can be heard urgently shouting, "Run fast, friends," while recording the incident from a location beyond the Meenakshi Bridge. Moments later, a large mass of earth, loosened by heavy rain, crashes downhill, uprooting trees and sweeping away temporary metal and fabric barricades erected around the construction site.

The landslide sent thick layers of mud spilling across the road, forcing several people, including women, to flee the area to escape the advancing debris.

Later visuals from the site showed the bridge and its surroundings buried under heavy deposits of mud as rescue teams searched the area to determine whether anyone had been trapped beneath the debris.

Personnel from the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to carry out rescue operations.

The landslide occurred near the Anakkompoyil-Meppadi tunnel project, which began last year to improve road connectivity between Malappuram and Wayanad districts.
