The Delhi High Court on Wednesday allowed the reopening of the four floors of the Nizamuddin Markaz given the festival of Shab-e-Barat this weekend. The campus was shut down on March 3, 2020, due to a spurt in the Covid-19 infection.

Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri also asked the authorities to lift all restrictions imposed on worshipers in the premises of the Center as its management had informed the court that all arrangements have been done to implement the protocol of social distancing and sanitization.

According to the Delhi Disaster Management Authority guidelines, less than 100 people can be allowed to assemble on each floor. On the limitations for worshipers, the bench said, "When they say that they will abide by the Code of Protocol that is fine. It should be left to the discretion of the believers."

Earlier, the same bench had directed the Delhi Waqf Board to apply with the concerned police station to seek permission to reopen the entire mosque complex for conducting prayers at the Nizamuddin Center.

Considering the recent guidelines issued by the DDMA, the court, while hearing the Waqf Board's request for reopening the religious place, had asked the board to immediately contact the SHO of Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station and follow the due process.
Earlier, the court had asked the Centre's position on the issue and asked why the mosque could not be fully opened.
