Bengaluru
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have transformed themselves into one of the most dangerous teams of Indian Premier League 2026, with a disciplined pace attack powering three straight home wins at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
For years, Bengaluru’s home ground was seen as a difficult venue for bowlers because of its small boundaries and batting-friendly surface. But this season, RCB pacers have dismantled opponents as varied as Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
The turnaround began with Jacob Duffy, who stepped in while Josh Hazlewood recovered from injury. Duffy used bounce, seam movement and steep angles to trouble top-order batters, setting the tone for RCB’s bowling strategy: hit the deck hard and force mistakes.
Once Hazlewood returned, he immediately strengthened the attack. Against Lucknow, the Australian quick bowled with relentless accuracy, extracting awkward bounce and cramping batters for room. His disciplined line-and-length approach has become central to RCB’s success.
Alongside Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has added control and variation. While Hazlewood attacks with bounce and hard lengths, Bhuvneshwar mixes slower balls, yorkers and cutters, giving RCB a contrasting threat.
That combination of pace plus deception has made life difficult for opponents throughout the innings.
RCB have also benefited from emerging names like Rasikh Salam, who impressed at the death with accurate full-length bowling and wickets in crucial overs.
His emergence has helped cover the absence of Yash Dayal, who was influential last season.
Previously, RCB were often seen as a batting-heavy team dependent on home run-fests. This year, their pace unit has changed that image. They now possess:
That balance means RCB are no longer dangerous only on flat batting tracks. They now look equipped to win across venues and conditions.
