India national cricket team received USD 2,639,423 (around Rs 25 crore) as prize money after winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at home, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced the distribution of a record USD 11.25 million players' prize pool following the tournament’s conclusion.
India defeated the New Zealand national cricket team by a comprehensive 96-run margin in the final to secure their second successive T20 World Cup title.
The ICC said the total purse reflects the significant increase in tournament prize money introduced in 2024, aimed at boosting financial rewards for players and supporting the global growth of cricket.
Runners-up New Zealand received USD 1,422,692 (around Rs 13 crore). The semi-finalists, South Africa national cricket team and England national cricket team, were awarded approximately Rs 9.24 crore and Rs 8.96 crore respectively.
Among other teams finishing higher in the tournament, the West Indies cricket team received USD 538,269, while the Pakistan national cricket team — which played all its matches in Sri Lanka — earned USD 522,692.
Further down the prize distribution list, the Zimbabwe national cricket team were allocated USD 491,538, while the Sri Lanka national cricket team received USD 475,962.
Teams eliminated in the Super 8 stage — Afghanistan national cricket team, Australia national cricket team and the United States national cricket team — each earned USD 309,808.
Meanwhile, the Scotland national cricket team received USD 278,654 and the Ireland national cricket team took home USD 271,731.
Four other teams — Italy national cricket team, Netherlands national cricket team, United Arab Emirates national cricket team and Nepal national cricket team — were awarded USD 256,154 each.
Finally, the Canada national cricket team, Namibia national cricket team and Oman national cricket team received USD 225,000 each.

The ICC said the prize-money distribution underscores its continued efforts to increase financial incentives for players and strengthen cricket’s development across member nations participating in global tournaments.
