Despite successfully defending their IPL crown with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not hold a public victory parade in Bengaluru. The franchise has decided against a city-wide celebration to prevent overcrowding and ensure public safety, particularly in light of last year's tragic stampede.
The decision has also been influenced by the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka’s newly appointed Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening. Since the event venue is located close to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, authorities expect large gatherings in the area, requiring extensive police deployment.
Given the anticipated security demands, RCB management chose to comply with police advisories discouraging public celebrations on city roads. Officials felt that avoiding large outdoor gatherings was the most responsible course of action.
The move comes a year after a fatal incident near Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a hastily organised celebration following RCB’s maiden IPL title win resulted in the deaths of 11 supporters. The tragedy sparked widespread criticism and led to judicial and administrative scrutiny.
A source associated with the franchise indicated that no major public events are expected to be organised in Bengaluru, as existing regulations and safety guidelines must be followed.
Earlier, Bengaluru Police had urged fans to celebrate responsibly and avoid activities such as road processions, firecracker displays, or any actions that could disrupt public order. Authorities clarified that while supporters are free to celebrate privately, large-scale gatherings in public spaces would not be permitted.
Additionally, several RCB players are set to leave soon for international commitments. Opener Devdutt Padikkal is expected to join India’s Test squad ahead of the upcoming match against Afghanistan, while overseas players including Josh Hazlewood, Tim David, Jacob Duffy and Romario Shepherd have national team duties awaiting them.

As a result, RCB’s title celebrations are expected to remain limited and low-key, with the team prioritising safety, scheduling commitments and compliance with local regulations.
