Environmentalist and spiritual Guru Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru, has appreciated Saudi Arabia for producing 54% of its food, and converting deserts into fertile lands. He said the desert kingdom has “set an example” in contrast to “other countries which have fertile lands and are actively working to turn them into deserts in the world.”

He said this while interacting with the Muslim World League leaders led by its Secretary General Dr. Al-Issa in Riyadh. The Muslim World League is one of the most influential international non-governmental Islamic organizations in the world.

Sadhguru launched the Save Soil Movement this March and is currently on a 100-day, 30,000-km lone motorcycle journey across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East to build global consensus for urgent policy-driven action to save soil from extinction. Riyadh is his first stop in the Muslim world.

"We request you to move the Muslim world to support the soil, not to support me, but to talk about soil, support soil," Sadhguru said in his appeal to the Secretary-General.

"In so many ways we have found differences between each other in terms of nationality, race, religion, caste, creed. It has become very important that we find some common factors or common ground for all of us. Soil is that one thing," Sadhguru said with a translator facilitating the dialogue. He added that "soil is not only an ecological issue, it is also a way of bringing Humanity…

Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Foundation with its headquarters in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu,  wrote on Twitter about his Saudi Sojourn:

"Wonderful to see the #MuslimWorldLeague embrace #SaveSoil. May the region be a shining example of commitment to sustainable ecological solutions and the long-term security wellbeing of its people. #SaveSoil." Wonderful to see the #MuslimWorldLeague embrace #SaveSoil.
The Muslim World League pledged its support for the global Movement to Save Soil from extinction.

Dr Al-Issa told Sadguru: "We have already loved you a lot. We loved you even before seeing you and when we saw you, we fell in love even more."

"We request you to move the Muslim world to support the soil, not to support me, but to talk about soil, support soil,” Sadhguru said in his appeal to the Secretary General.

Sadguru responded: “In so many ways we have found differences between each other in terms of nationality, race, religion, caste, creed. It has become very important that we find some common factors or common ground for all of us. Soil is that one thing,”

Sadhguru's speech was communicated by a translator facilitating the dialogue.

He added that “soil is not only an ecological issue, it is also a way of bringing humanity together.”

“As for the Muslim World League, we are completely ready to help you in whatever way possible, to support your objectives,” Dr. Al-Issa responded. He also asked him to visit his home for a meal.

adhguru is scheduled to visit Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman during the Middle-East leg of his journey.
