Actor Anupam Kher is returning to the stage with a new musical production titled Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane, presented by his own Anupam Kher Studio. He will share the stage with actress Swaroop Sampat, marking an exciting collaboration for theatre enthusiasts.
The play, written and directed by filmmaker and theatre veteran Gajendra Ahire, explores the intricacies of human relationships in the modern world—how people who seem familiar can still feel like strangers. The narrative unfolds through emotions, memories, and the connections between people, blending drama with music.
For the first time, composer Anu Malik is creating the musical score for a stage production, lending a unique sonic layer to the storytelling. Renowned singers Shaan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Anandi Joshi will perform the songs, while lyrics are penned by Kausar Munir and choreography is handled by Chirag Aggarwal.
The ensemble cast also includes Meghna Malik, Maya Sharma, Vikas Rawat, Shraddha Mandale, and Herman De Souza.
Speaking about the project, Kher reflected on his deep connection to theatre:
"Theatre is where my journey as an actor truly began, and every return to the stage feels like coming home. ‘Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane’ is a profoundly human story reflecting the emotional contradictions of our world today. Collaborating with such an extraordinary creative team makes this production incredibly special. Audiences will see themselves in this story."

Composer Anu Malik added, "Music has the power to express emotions words sometimes cannot. Hearing this story, I knew it needed a musical soul to touch hearts. Composing for theatre is a unique experience, and I’m thrilled to craft melodies that will live and breathe on stage with such talented performers and singers."
The premiere date and venue for Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane are yet to be announced, with further details expected soon.
