Actor Emraan Hashmi has thanked audiences for the overwhelming response to his Netflix series Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, which has created history by topping the global streaming charts.

Sharing his appreciation on social media platform X, Hashmi posted a video message expressing gratitude to viewers. He said the series becoming the first Indian title to secure the number one position on Netflix’s Global Non-English Top 10 list was possible only because of audience support. The actor added that he had been reading messages and comments from fans and felt humbled by the love the show has received. According to him, the success proves that stories told with honesty and authenticity can resonate far beyond borders.

In the caption accompanying the video, Hashmi once again thanked fans for helping Taskaree achieve the global milestone.

According to an official press release, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web debuted directly at the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV list in its first week, making it the first Indian series to do so.

The series is created by filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and co-directed by Raghav Jairath. Along with Emraan Hashmi, the cast includes Zoya Afroz, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sharad Kelkar, Nandish Singh Sandhu and Anurag Sinha. The show delves into the intense and lesser-seen world of airport customs, focusing on the commitment and bravery of officers tasked with safeguarding the country.

Reacting to the achievement, Neeraj Pandey said the series reaching the top spot globally marked an important moment for Indian storytelling. He noted that narratives grounded in real-life settings and unexplored spaces can find international audiences when presented with clarity and purpose, adding that Netflix helped the story reach viewers worldwide.

Hashmi also said the team approached Taskaree with sincerity and deep respect for airport officials whose behind-the-scenes efforts inspired the show.

Netflix India’s Series Head, Tanya Bami, described the response as encouraging and said the strong start to 2026 reflected how locally rooted stories with universal themes can strike a chord with global audiences.
