Warner Bros has finally dropped a major update on its much-awaited Game of Thrones film, revealing the project’s working title as Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest.
The announcement was made during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, where the title appeared on a slide showcasing Warner Bros’ upcoming lineup for 2027 and beyond, according to Deadline.
While the makers have kept the storyline under wraps, the title strongly hints that the film will focus on Aegon I Targaryen, famously known as Aegon the Conqueror — the dragonlord who united the Seven Kingdoms and created the Iron Throne. His legendary tale comes from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books, the foundation of the Game of Thrones universe.
Adding more excitement to the project, acclaimed writer Beau Willimon has been attached to the film. Willimon is known for creating the political thriller House of Cards and writing for the hit Star Wars series Andor.

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to more action in the franchise, with Season 3 of House of the Dragon set to arrive this summer. A second season of prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has also already been confirmed.
