Lionsgate has announced special early-access screenings for its upcoming biographical drama Michael, giving fans an opportunity to watch the film before its official theatrical release.
The studio revealed that the movie will be shown in one-night-only premium format screenings on Wednesday, April 22, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release scheduled for Friday, April 24. Tickets for these advance screenings will go on sale on March 11 at 6 am PT / 9 am ET.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film features Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the legendary pop star Michael Jackson, in the lead role. The project marks Jaafar’s major big-screen debut as he steps into the role of the iconic performer widely known as the King of Pop.
According to reports, the film explores Jackson’s journey beyond his chart-topping hits. It follows his rise from a gifted young singer with The Jackson 5 to becoming one of the most influential and ambitious solo artists in music history.
The story also delves into significant moments from his personal life and early solo career, offering audiences an inside look at the milestones that shaped his path to global superstardom.
The cast includes Nia Long, Juliano Valdi, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo in key roles.
Announcing the early screenings, Kevin Grayson, President of Worldwide Distribution at Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said the film has been crafted as a major cinematic experience for fans of the legendary singer.
He noted that the advance shows in IMAX and other premium large formats are designed to showcase the scale, music and energy that defined Michael Jackson’s performances, allowing audiences to experience his legacy on the big screen.
